When you think of braces, you may think mostly about teens or adults, but in some cases, it is good to get an earlier start.

Dr. Gee typically will evaluate kids as young as 7 to see how their adult teeth are growing in and whether their palate is wide enough. Every kid grows at their own rate so it is important to check the child in person for a thorough assessment.

Generally, once Dr. Gee sees your child he may have recommendations including any of the following:

  • Phase I braces (Limited braces)
  • A palatal expander (RPE or another appliance)
  • Wait for natural growth

Of course, if your kid is 11 or older and have lost all of their baby teeth, then they may be ready for a full set of braces!
